No. 11 WBB Rolls Past Boston University, 82-40

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – No. 11 North Carolina women's basketball earned a bounce-back win, its 13th straight at home in non-conference play, defeating Boston University 82-40 on Sunday afternoon in Carmichael Arena. The three-point shot was open for the Tar Heels, hitting 11, their fifth game with 10 or more this season.
Elina Aarnisalo led the way for North Carolina (9-2) for the third time this year, tying her season high of four assists, adding 14 points. Coming off the bench, first-year Taliyah Henderson posted 11 points adding a career-high five rebounds and career-high four steals.
Carolina's defense proves to be a focal point, holding Boston University (3-6) to 42 points. It's the fifth time this season the Tar Heels have held an opponent under 50 points\\
It was a team effort in this matchup with four Tar Heels with double-digit points, with 10 for UNC finding the way to the basket. Contributions from behind the arc came from seven different players, shooting four-of-five in the third quarter tying the season high for North Carolina.
On the defensive end, Ciera Toomey was putting in the work with a career-high five blocks. The team collectively held the Terriers to a season low of 42 points. Additionally, North Carolina outrebounded Boston University 45-25, totaling 18 offensive snags. Those extra opportunities led to 17 second-chance points.
North Carolina started off the competition grabbing nine offensive rebounds, outrebounding the Terriers 17-6 in the first quarter. After a stagnant few minutes, Harris, leveraging her physicality, reached the line making five-of-six to get the Tar Heels going.
Off the bench, Jordan Zubich, Henderson and Nyla Brooks contributed 10-of-17 points in the second quarter. The Tar Heel defense was on lock down, forcing 12 Terrier turnovers, scoring 11 points off of the miscues in the first half. North Carolina continued to excel in a 10-0 run in the second quarter to post a 38-19 lead at the break.
After the break, North Carolina found the sweet spot from behind the arc, shooting four-of-five from three with contributions from Lanie Grant, Aarnisalo and Indya Nivar. Grant lent a helping hand, dishing out four assists in the third quarter. Nivar was all over the floor posting 11 points, a block and steal in the third frame. The Tar Heels put up a total of 28 points in the quarter, just three shy of their season high.
Carolina kept its foot on the gas, outscoring the Terriers 16-9 in the fourth to close the door and come away with an 82-40 win. The Tar Heels are now 12-1 all-time against Patriot League teams.
North Carolina will begin conference play hosting Louisville next Sunday night as it continues its home stretch. The 4 p.m. ET tip from Carmichael Arena is set to air nationally on ACC Network.
