Another Record-High Graduation Success Rate For UNC Student-Athletes

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – For the sixth consecutive year, University of North Carolina student-athletes established a record-high multi-year graduation rate as reported in the NCAA's annual Graduation Success Rates.
The overall student-athlete Graduation Success Rate for the incoming classes of 2015-16 through 2018-19 was 94%, up one percent from a year ago. The single-year rate was 92%, marking the fourth-straight year at least 92%.
The NCAA's Graduation Success Rates measure graduation rates over a six-year period, including student-athletes who were on scholarship their first year and graduated from their respective university or left the program via transfer to another university or professional opportunities while in good academic standing.
Twelve of Carolina's teams recorded multi-year GSRs of 100. They include women's basketball, women's fencing, men's golf, gymnastics, women's lacrosse, rowing, women's soccer, softball, men's and women's swimming, women's tennis and volleyball.
Another six sports had GSRs of at least 90%, including baseball, men's cross country, field hockey, men's lacrosse and men's indoor and outdoor track and field.
The gymnastics team continued its perfect streak of reaching 100 percent for the 21st time in the 21-year history of the NCAA's GSR.
Other streaks for teams with five years or longer of 100 percent multi-year GSRs include women's swimming and diving (17 consecutive years), women's fencing (16), volleyball (15), women's lacrosse (nine), women's tennis (seven), women's basketball and men's golf (six) and men's swimming and diving (five).
Baseball's multi-year rate jumped from 91 to a record 96%, and football's multi-year rate increased 8% to a program-best 89%.
