Brantmeier & Kajuru Advance At NCAA Singles Championship

ORLANDO, Fla. – University of North Carolina women's tennis began play in the 2025 NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships Tuesday afternoon at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. Reese Brantmeier and Oby Kajuru highlighted the day with wins for the Tar Heels. Both walked away with gritty, three-set wins over their opponents from Georgia and Vanderbilt to advance to the round of 32.

Brantmeier (UNC) def. Stammel (Vanderbilt) 6-1, 4-6, 7-5
Kajuru (UNC) def. Mert (Georgia) 6-4, 4-6, 6-4
Kupres (Texas A&M) def. Evans (UNC) 7-6 (2), 6-3
Jones (Michigan) def. Rabman (UNC) 6-4, 3-6, 6-3

The two Carolina doubles pairs that qualified for the NCAA Championship will begin play Wednesday evening. Reese Brantmeier/Alanis Hamilton will compete first at 5 p.m. against their opponents from BYU. Third seeded duo Oby Kajuru/Susanna Maltby will hit the courts shortly after at 6 p.m. Kajuru/Maltby are set to face a duo from Texas Tech.
NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships
Carolina is one of just two ACC programs with four singles and two doubles qualifiers this week. The Tar Heels will look to secure their first singles or doubles NCAA Championship Title since 2023 (Fiona Crawley – singles, Fiona Crawley/Carson Tanguilig – doubles).
