Tar Heels Continue To Impress At ITA Regionals

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – University of North Carolina women's tennis doubles and singles competitors advanced in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regionals Monday at Chewning Tennis Center.

The Tar Heels started the day with singles action in the quarterfinals. Oby Kajuru continued her dominant run at Regionals with a straight set win over her opponent from NC State. Theadora Rabman dropped the first set but battled her way back to force a deciding third set. Going on hour three of the match, the junior pulled away late to claim a thrilling win over her opponent from NC State.

Carolina wrapped up the day with duo Susanna Maltby and Kajuru competing in the doubles semifinals. The pair topped their opponents from Clemson to clinch a spot in the finals on Tuesday.

Up Next
Oby Kajuru and Theadora Rabman are set to compete in the singles semifinals Tuesday at 10 a.m. Each player will look to advance to the finals resulting in a bid to the NCAA Individual Championships this fall. Susanna Maltby and partner Kajuru will look to take the doubles regional title at 2:30 p.m. while locking in their spot at the NCAA Championships.

ITA Regionals
University of North Carolina women's tennis is set to host the Carolina region of the ITA Regional Championships from Oct. 16-21. The Tar Heels will welcome athletes from over 20 universities to compete at the Chewning Tennis Center this weekend.

ITA Regionals will take place at 13 different regions/sites across the country. Regionals is also an opportunity for athletes to qualify for the NCAA Doubles and Singles Championships. This tournament will qualify the two singles finalists from each region while only the doubles champion at each site will qualify for the NCAA Championships.
