CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced the 2023-24 ACC Academic Honor Roll on Thursday, recognizing a league-record 6,187 student-athletes for classroom excellence during the most recent academic year.
Â
An all-time high of 537 Tar Heels were honored, marking the second year in a row that UNC has topped 500 players recognized.
Â
The ACC Academic Honor Roll is comprised of student-athletes who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a grade point average of 3.0 or better for the full academic year. This marks the fifth consecutive year in which at least 5,500 ACC student-athletes have achieved Honor Roll status.
Â
"We are proud to recognize a record number of student-athletes for their accomplishments in the classroom and salute them for their hard work and successes both academically and athletically," said ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips, Ph.D. "In addition to congratulating the thousands who earned ACC Academic Honor Roll distinction this year, we recognize the outstanding individuals who work diligently to support them on all of our campuses."
Â
Duke, which has led all schools in honorees in 36 out of 37 years of the Honor Roll, had 620 Honor Roll student-athletes, while Notre Dame placed 540 on the list. Virginia (538), North Carolina (537), Boston College (478), Louisville (447) and Clemson (435) each had more than 400 student-athletes earn recognition.
Â
Fourteen student-athletes made the ACC Honor Roll for the sixth time, including North Carolina's Abby Settlemyre (Softball) and Anika Yarlagadda (Women's Tennis).
Â
Each school had multiple student-athletes who achieved ACC Academic Honor Roll listing for the fifth time.
