Softball Takes Series Victory Over Pitt, 8-1

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – For the fourth time this season with a series win on the line, the North Carolina softball team delivered a Sunday victory. The Tar Heels defeated Pitt, 8-1, at Vartabedian Field to clinch the team's fourth ACC series.
Sophomore Kenna Raye Dark (8-3) earned her second victory of the weekend in the circle, throwing a complete-game gem, with the Panthers scoring just one run and tallying six hits with a pair of strikeouts.
The right-handed pitcher allowed just three runs in 14 innings of work in the Pitt series in two complete games.
Designated player Autumn Owen led the offense with three RBIs, blasting her fourth home run of the weekend, and finishing with two hits on the day. She now has 10 long balls as a Tar Heel.
Shortstop Abby Settlemyre reached base in all five at-bats, recording four hits, including a pair of doubles, a home run and a walk. She hit two home runs in the series.
Aneshia Jordan plated a pair of runs off a single, a career-best for the outfielder.
The Tar Heels now have series victories over Virginia, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame and Pitt.
Up next, Carolina heads to Lynchburg, Va., on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. matchup at Liberty.
