Divers Claim Four Titles At Mizzou Invitational

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The North Carolina diving team wrapped up a successful week of competition at the 2021 Mizzou Invitational Friday night. The Tar Heels won four of the five events in which they competed with Aranza Vazquez and Anton Down-Jenkins each winning two events.
Montano picked up her second victory in three days, following Wednesday's 1-meter title with a platform win. She also claimed the bronze medal in the 3-meter on Thursday after she posted the highest preliminary score.
Montano captured first-place in the 1-meter with a score of 322.90, finishing 31.70 points ahead of teammate Paige Burrell who claimed the silver medal with a final tally of 291.20. Montano's score of 303.60 on the platform was 15.30 points better than second-place finisher Melissa Mirafuentes Santilon of Wyoming.
Jenkins swept the men's springboard events winning both the 1 and 3-meter competition by wide margins. He finished 66.15 points ahead of fellow Tar Heel Alexander Hunt in the 1-meter and 39.00 points in front of Missouri's Carlo Lopez in the 3-meter.
Jenkins posted a score of 396.05 in the 1-meter and 431.05 in the 3-meter.
Carolina's divers will be back in action Dec. 13-18 as they travel to Bloomington, Ind., to compete at the Winter National Championships.
