LAST MEETING
No. 21 Miami won its fourth-straight game with a 76-61 victory over North Carolina on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016 from Carmichael Arena. Freshman Stephanie Watts paced Carolina with 19 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Hillary Summers had 17 points and 11 rebounds for her 5th double-double of the year, while N'Dea Bryant added 12 points and 10 rebounds for her 2nd double-double.
Adrienne Motley led Miami with 20 points, while Jessica Thomas and Laura Cornelius each scored 13 points. Emese Hof had 10 for the Hurricanes. UNC scored the first six points of the third period to tie it at 41-41, but an 8-0 run by Miami was enough to push the visitors ahead and would lead by as many as 19 points in the final three minutes.
LAST TIME OUT
Brianna Turner had 24 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks to help No. 6 Notre Dame beat North Carolina 77-55 on Sunday. Marina Mabrey added 13 points for the Fighting Irish (18-3, 6-1 Atlantic Coast Conference), who gave coach Muffet McGraw her 750th victory at the school in her 30th season.
Paris Kea scored 15 of her 21 points in the first quarter for the Tar Heels (12-8, 1-6). But Notre Dame ran off a 10-0 burst to build a double-digit lead early in the second, then a half-closing 9-0 run to pull away.
