The visitors finaly scored with just over four minutes to go, but it was a little too late as Destinee Walker buried the Bisons with a three-pointer in the final minutes.
The first half saw neither club lead by more than four points, and Carolina would take a slim, 30-28, lead into halftime. Cherry paced the Tar Heels with 10 points to lead all scorers.
The Bisons turned the ball over a staggering 17 times in the first half, but the Tar Heels only capitalized in turning those miscues into 13 points.
