
Following Penn State Weekend, Tar Heels Off To Northwestern

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The UNC fencing squads bounce back into tough competition this weekend as they head to Evanston, Ill., for the Northwestern Dual Meets. The men and women will compete both Saturday and Sunday, with women's meets in the morning and men's in the afternoon and evening.
UNC's men are currently ranked 11th in the nation, first among "others receiving votes" in the top-10 poll. The Carolina women 15th in the rankings (fifth among teams also receiving votes).
The Tar Heels are coming off the Penn State Dual Meets last Saturday in University Park, Pa., where the women finished 2-4 and the men were 2-3. Among standout individual performances, Gillian Litynski was 11-4 on the day in women's sabre and Lydia Shahidi was 11-5 in women's epee, followed closely by epee teammate Kacie Albert at 10-6. On the men's side, Jonathan Blake was 10-4 in sabre for the top percentage of the day.
