"It's hard to lose, but you've got to score a run to win the game. Dani [Spaulding] pitched an outstanding game. She had a bunch of strikeouts - 14, and you lose a game - that's tough. We had opportunities. I thought we hit the ball hard, we executed our bunt, Alyssa Francona had a couple of nice hits.
"I thought it was a very well-played game. Their best hitter hit the ball out. It's tough, but she's a good hitter and we knew she was a good hitter."

"We played great defense and Christina [Gwyn Trice] pitched a solid game. Our hitters are pretty good at adjusting. Even thought Spaulding threw a great game, a lot of her game was us chasing pitches out of the zone we shouldn't have chased. Usually the second or third time through the lineup we adjust to that pretty well and we didn't do as good a job adjusting today as we would have liked, but I knew if we kept competing and playing defense eventually we'd break through as we have all year.
"I was also proud of them for focusing one pitch at a time, which is our goal right now; one pitch, one out at a time and when they tell us we're done playing, that's when we stop playing. So I thought they did a tremendous job of that today as well."
