Tar Heel Wrestlers Complete Day One At NCAA Tournament

The UNC wrestling team completed its first day of competition Thursday at the NCAA Wrestling Tournament in Albany, N.Y.
Seniors Matt Kenny (hwt.) and Brad Byers (141 pounds) suffered narrow losses in their respective first round matches. Kenny lost to UPenn's Matt Feast 4-3, while Byers fell to Mike Maney of Lock haven, 3-1.
Chris Rodrigues (125 pounds) lost an 8-3 decision to Edinboro's Shawn Burch 8-3. Evan Sola (133 pounds) lost 11-5 to Michigan's Foley Dowd, the No. 8 seed in the weight class. Mark Canty faced Michigan's Otto Olson, seeded No. 1 at 174 pounds, and lost by pinfall in 2:59.
Al five Tar Heels will be back in action Friday.
