Women's Hoops Gets Past Maryland, 68-57

COLLEGE PARK, Maryland (AP) - Coretta Brown scored 19 points and No. 24 North Carolina forced 26 turnovers in a 68-57 victory over Maryland on Thursday night.
Brown shot 7-of-11 from the field, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range for the Tar Heels (16-6, 6-4 Atlantic Coast Conference), who scored 20 points off Maryland miscues.
Marche Strickland scored 15 points and Deedee Warley added 13 for the Terrapins (10-11, 3-7).
The Tar Heels dominated the inside game, outscoring Maryland 30-14 in the paint.
North Carolina led 58-48 midway through the second half before Maryland cut the lead to 58-53 on Terri Daniels' 3-pointer with 6:14 left.
But the Tar Heels put the game away by scoring the next eight points, completing the run on Brown's two free throws with 59 seconds to play.
