WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - Adell Harris made two free throws with 12 seconds left, and Tonia Brown had 16 points as Wake Forest beat No. 21 North Carolina 65-64 Monday night.
North Carolina (14-5, 4-3 Atlantic Coast) took a 64-63 lead with 20 seconds left after a steal and an uncontested layup by Nikita Bell. Brown hit the game-winning free throws after she drove to the basket and was fouled by Candace Sutton.
Wake Forest (9-9, 3-5) shot just 36 percent and was 6-for-24 from 3-point range, but had 26 offensive rebounds and 13 steals.
North Carolina made just 21 of 66 shots (31 percent) and was 4-for-17 from 3-point range. Leah Metcalf led the Tar Heels with 17 points, seven steals and five rebounds. Chrystal Baptist added 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Tiffani Listenbee had 13 points, 10 rebounds and four steals for Wake Forest. Brown also had four steals, but was 3-for-12 from 3-point range and had six turnovers.
