UNC Softball Tops Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 10-2

NORMAN, Okla.-Two Tar Heel freshmen hit their first career home runs Saturday as the University of North Carolina softball team beat Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 10-2 at the Worth Invitational. Both Emily Price and Dionne Streete delivered two-run shots as Carolina improved to 15-6-1 on the season.
Streete's homer came in a four-run second inning that put UNC up 4-1. Price's home run followed in the third as UNC took a 6-1 lead.
The Tar Heels totaled 10 hits, with two by Streete and the rest spread throughout the team. Senior Michelle Semmes and junior Natalie Anter both doubled.
Senior Radara McHugh (8-5) pitched four innings to earn the win. She gave up one run and four hits while striking out three. Sophomore Michael Parrott threw the final inning before the game was halted by the eight-run mercy rule.
UNC returns to action Sunday morning with a 10 a.m. CST game against Louisiana-Monroe. The Tar Heels will play Louisiana-Lafayette at 2:30 p.m. to wrap up their weekend at the tournament, which is hosted by the University of Oklahoma.
